Constitution amendment, Nepal-India border disputes.
Kathmandu - President of the main opposition party Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that national unity has been maintained in favour of the sovereignty and integrity of the country. He clarified that the Congress had supported the Central Committee and the parliamentary parties as the constitution amendment bill brought by the government was in the interest of the country.
Participating in the clause-by-clause discussion of the constitution amendment bill brought by the government to change the coat of arm as per the new map covering the area including Limpiyadhura, Deuba said that the national unity seen in favour of the country's integrity should be maintained. Stating that he would not speak on other issues, Deuba made it clear that he would always support the government on issues of national integrity.
He said that the land east of the Kali (Mahakali) River belongs to Nepal. Deuba said, "According to the Sugauli Treaty, it is clear that the land east of the Kali River belongs to Nepal." The map printed by the British also says Kali river. Some people call it Mahakali but we call it Kali. The word Kutiyangdi is also on the map of China. That is the Kali river than in Nepal. '
