Repatriation of Nepalese migrant workers from UAE
UAE (Online Khabar) - One hundred and forty-eight Nepalese migrant workers have returned homeland from the UAE. Most of the returnees are women. Embassy Information Officer Bhuvan Ojha said that the body of a Nepali is also on the plane.
Nepalese who are in trouble due to COVID-19 have been sent to Nepal by 2293 widebody aircraft of Nepal Airlines. This is the first flight of Nepal Airlines from UAE. The flight took off at 4 AM local time on Friday. This is the same flight which was schedule to fly on July 16 but was postponed.
Among those returnees 42 are from Abu Dhabi. Nepalese living in different states of UAE were brought to the airport by the concerned airlines. Those who have returned to Nepal have bought tickets at the rate of 1320 dirams (about 40 thousand rupees) as determined by the government of Nepal.
The Nepalese embassy in Abu Dhabi has informed that those who have mentioned their details in the form called for those who want to return to Nepal have been sent back to Nepal on the basis of priority. Accordingly, most of the pregnant women are on the first flight.
Free corona test at the airport
The passengers had reached the airport six hours before the flight time as the corona had to be tested. They were kept at a safe-distance at the airport and the waiting room of the airport. The UAE government has provided free corona testing to returnees through the RDT method. Nepalese have expressed their gratitude to the UAE government for conducting systematic corona testing.
Representatives of the embassy and social organizations bid farewell
Nepalese nationals who were in trouble in the UAE due to COVID-19 have returned home in the first phase by a Nepali flag carrier. Relatives, embassy staff and representatives of social organizations arrived at the airport to bid them farewell. NRNA UAE representatives facilitated their corona testing and other assistance at the airport.
On behalf of the embassy, Spokesperson Rita Dhital, Second Secretary and Information Officer Bhuvan Ojha and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Irfan Alam bade farewell at the airport. Similarly, NRN UAE President Prakash Koirala, Vice President Pasang Sherpa and Nepali Samaj UAE President Govinda Dhakal also arrived at the airport to bid farewell to the Nepalese.
Preperations for other flights
According to the embassy, Nepal Airlines, Himalayan Airlines, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia will also fly from UAE.

The next flight of Nepal Airlines will be on Sunday, June 21 at 11 AM UAE time, said Saji Pol, the official ticket seller agency representative of Nepal Airlines for UAE.
The embassy will inform the list of returnees to the concerned airlines. On the same basis, the airlines will inform the concerned people about the date of the flight and the place of ticketing, said the pol.
