Mechinagar - Twenty-two trucks carrying Nepalese products from Nepal to India have been stopped at the Mechi Bridge after the West Bengal government blocked the export for 15 days.
Even though daily goods are imported from India to Nepal even during the lockdown, India has obstructed the export of Nepalese goods. Due to which Nepalese businessmen have to bear huge financial loss. A businessman who has been doing business between Nepal and Bangladesh said that goods worth millions of rupees have been on the road for 15 days after India obstructed the export of Nepalese goods to India even though it was expoted after completing all the customs procedures in Nepal.
Indian police have not allowed the vehicles to enter India. ‘Bengal Police have stopped the goods saying that no order have been received from the authority. According to a customs agent, 10 of the 22 trucks are carrying cardamom and 12 have tea. Two trucks are at the customs office. Tea and cardamom are being exported to India and Amriso to Bangladesh.
According to the Mechi Customs Office, Bengal has obstructed the export of Nepalese agricultural products. Chief of Customs Dhruvaraj Bishwakarma, said that Nepalese goods have been blocked at the border for a long time after the Indian government gave a direct order not to bring Nepalese goods.
