Jhapa | The locals of Jhapa Village Municipality-1 Lasuna have saved the Armed Police Force from the smugglers. On Monday night, Indian smugglers dragged the armed police into India.
According to the people of Lasuna, one of the two armed policemen patrolling the Nepal-India border was dragged by a group of 40 Indians within 100 meters from Indo-Nepal border. The local leader informed that the locals rescued him from the clutch of the Indians after the armed police yelled for help.
Indians came with a plan to smuggle hardware materials into Nepal. According to the locals, the Indian smugglers came with a intension to attack the armed men on patrol if they did not allow them to enter.
A Nepali who participated in the rescue operation informed that some people started smuggling goods into Nepal while others dragged the armed men into India. He says that if it was delayed for a while, there would be a big accident.
SP Resham Thaksu of the Armed Police Force said that a large quantity of motor parts and tobacco were recovered from the spot. He informed that the security personnel patroling in the border did not allowed to smuggle the goods. He said that the goods were snatched from the smugglers which lead to clash.
Sachin Pradhan, chief of Taghandubba BOP, said that there was tension in the control effort. He said they arrived immediately after receiving the phone call and saved a major accident.
More than 50 Nepalis were present on the spot to rescue the Armed Police Force. There is still a problem in controlling the grandeur of Indians in the Lasuna where most of the smuggling takes place in the district.
